Takayasu Tsukahara, owner of the sushi restaurant, was on the receiving end of some criticism last year when he made a video about how to make sushi at home and then went viral.
Tsukaharras comments were met with an outpouring of criticism, which resulted in the restaurant going under the knife in October 2017.
In a video posted on his website, Tsukaharas family is seen describing the process of making sushi and what he does to prepare it for guests.
The video is titled “Sushi at home: how to prepare a basic batch of nigiri, nigiri roll, niguru and nigiri-style.
If you need a refresher, check it out here.”
The video went viral, and a subsequent petition was launched to save the restaurant.
“I was overwhelmed by the response, but I’m not sure how much more we could have done.
We tried to give our customers the same experience we had at home, but that didn’t work out,” Tsukahars family told The Wall Street Journal.
“We had no choice but to shut down.”
A few weeks later, Tsukazumi Tsukahas family released a new video, this time with a different family member and a different focus.
In it, Tsukas family explained how to properly prepare sushi for a family dinner and how the nigiri rolls should be made.
The family then went on to explain how the restaurant was going to make its sushi for the holidays.
“Sasuke” The new video explains how to use a sushi machine and how it’s important to get the sushi correct before it’s served.
The restaurant is offering a $20 gift card for the first 10 customers who visit Tsukushi Tsukahari.
